Acadiana Vaccine Finder

C’EST TOUT FINI

This project has ended. Acadiana Vaccine Finder and the Acadiana COVID Vaccine Hotline helped residents schedule vaccine appointments in the Acadiana area from March 2021 – March 2022.

Now that vaccines are readily available to all, we are directing users to Vaccines.gov or https://ldh.la.gov/covidvaccine for the most up-to-date locations and inventory.

The Acadiana Vaccine Finder website will remain online, but vaccine location and inventory will no longer be updated.

The Acadiana COVID Vaccine Scheduling Hotline was created by Dr. Britni Hebert to help residents find vaccine appointments that could only be scheduled online. Volunteers checked eligibility and made vaccine appointments for callers who didn’t have the means or struggled to navigate sign-up pages on their own.

After the rollout of the statewide hotline by the Louisiana Department of Health, our mission evolved to one of outreach and education. The Acadiana Vaccine Finder website was transformed into a searchable database of local vaccine, mask, and testing locations. The site also included social media updates and Q&A sessions from Acadiana doctors and hospitals during subsequent surges.

Dr. Britni Hebert is double board certified in internal medicine and geriatrics and currently practices in Lafayette, Louisiana. Hebert created the Acadiana COVID Vaccine Scheduling Hotline to address the technology barrier to vaccine access. When not seeing patients in clinic, Hebert recruited volunteers, set up training sessions over Zoom and trained our “shot callers” to take calls, answer questions about the vaccines, and schedule appointments online using Mighty Call software and Google Apps. Her initiative saved the lives of countless residents in Acadiana and we thank her for her commitment to vaccinating and educating the community and beyond.

Stacy Conrad is a vaccine advocate for the Louisiana Department of Health region 4. A seasoned activist and parent to an immunocompromised child, she lives and breathes healthcare advocacy. In addition to sharing admin duties, managing volunteers, and organizing vaccine events, Conrad served as head of public relations and promoted the hotline in TV and radio interviews. She has never met a stranger and never misses an opportunity to help someone address their vaccine hesitancy.

Allison Breaux is a graphic designer and served as co-admin and operations manager for the hotline. In addition to creating the website and all related design content and social media updates, Breaux managed volunteers, provided tech support, created the click-through call script for our shot callers, and maintained the online documentation they relied on to stay up to date with frequently changing vaccine inventories and eligibility criteria.
